This course introduces the research tools and methods commonly found in the heritage field. Building on a discussion about why research is needed and how it is used in heritage resource management, the course addresses various methodologies and common sources of evidence used in the heritage field such as oral sources, artefacts, buildings, cultural landscapes, and various text-based sources. Formal skills in writing, planning, structuring, and referencing written reports are stressed throughout the course.
